Love gives you a fairy tale......

Brandon + Cassidy

Bridesmaids wore aqua & the bride all in white.
We met Cassidy a few months back, she was a referral from Jennifer from The Trellis Market. From the moment we met...we loved her!
She started telling us about her love of vintage, and all the vintage inspired weddings she had attended, and the accents she was creating for her special day....all the things we love! We  knew this was a lady we were going to love working with! Can't wait to share some amazing photos of Brandon and Cassidy's wedding day!!

A vintage umbrellla and the perfect color to greet the guests as they entered the gardens.

Denny Wuesthoff created the chalkboard signs.

Loved that the guest's tie matched their wedding colors....so thoughtful!

We added a bird nest to the top of her cake....

Her day was filled with ruffles & more ruffles... hundreds of handmade paper flowers were everywhere.

We were happy to be able to bring a dozen beautiful trees to give a glow to the barn....loved it!

Thank you Brandon & Cassidy for letting us share your special day.
 We love you both.

Thinking about our very first Mad Hatter event that was held in this little yellow grange four years ago, it is amazing to us that we have grown from seventeen to thirty vendors, and still have a little room to grow. We feel our vendors/artists are truly the very best in the Northwest..... we can honestly say....we love and appreciate all of them and treasure the gift of their friendship. Our Mad Hatter Event is a special time of year for us.....first it is our favorite time of the year, second it is a time we get to spend with our friends. Our show has become a ritual of friendship, that is very important to us, all of friendships we have made along this journey we will keep, and cherish forever.....a friend gave me a card years ago and it read, "our friends bestow grace and perform miracles, God speaks to us through our intimate chats we have with one another....our conversations, our friends listen to us, and we listen unconditionally and we are committed to each others happiness."I believe this with my whole heart!

I hope you can see the love in these photos. What an amazing circle of friends, I love how we draw close to those we love. This is were we feel rooted, such an important need for our soul...... Now let the show begin!

There were customers and happy, happy, happy, shoppers! We have received many emails with words of encouragement and thanking us for all the great shopping and the great prices all the vendors were offering!
Things we love and some of the amazing booths!!

Thank you for visiting The Mad Hatter Vintage Flea Market ~ much thanks to all of you that came to our show and expecially to all our vendors that make our show so special ~ we love you and hope to see you next year!!! xox Glad & Celia

Last and certainly not least....A big thank you to Mike Lee for all the amazing photos!!

Spokane Area Metro Women ~ The Mad Hatter Vintage Flea Market

We are so very excited to be featured in Spokane Metro Woman. This magazine is a great resourse for women in the Spokane and Coeur d'Alene Area.
It shares our values and our committment to support, love, and encourage other women.  We feel strongly that these qualities should be parts of all of our lives, so that we can teach our children and their children.
We hope you will pick up a copy and enjoy our story, "Whatcha Gonna Do With All That Junk?" You can also read it online at Spokane Area Metro Woman.
Thank you Metro Woman Magazine for sharing our story and highlighting our Mad Hatter Event. We will surely say " We saw it in Metro Women."

Galvanized Glory

It was the dead of winter when I picked out this watering can, loved the #12 and it had a rose!
I love the old tarnished watering cans, rusty garden tools, and vintage garden books, I love really anything galvanized! My newest loves are the galvanized old siphons....so many uses and always fun to display with my watering cans. We need to thank the glory of the galvanized watering can to the the Victorian gardener. The one they chose, and most gardeners still consider the classic, was made of steel sheet metal protected from rust by a dipping in molten zinc. The detachable sprinkling head was dubbed a rose. Many old cans, like the photos below have been deflowered (lost their roses!), which makes them not only less collectible, but certainly less serviceable. If an old watering can is in your future, make sure to check for leaks.
If you cherish the tarnished as I do, I hope you find time to rescue some garden treasures this summer!

Party On Boys....

Today Dylan and Marshall celebrated their eleventh birthday. We had a full day of partying including swimming, games, taco dinner (Dylan's favorite) and movie night with popcorn, soda & candy at our home. Today our family needs a vacation! Giving these two a party was a labor of love. But, it was fun and it was certainly worth it. They boys got everything they wanted, they were  both very happy. It was a great party, we hope we made a great memory for them!
Thank you FUN FLICKS your theater rocks!!

Summer Reading

I would say that I am a lover of books....and summertime seems to be the best time that I get to read  books that I have picked up at garage and estate sales. I love reading nonfiction books lately.... 'The Glass Castle' by Jeannette Walls is amazing. It resonated with me on so many levels. I found myself rooting for her throughout the whole book, wanting her to make her way out of the craziness and have a life she so deserved.  It's a memoir: a story of  materially impoverished yet highly intellectual family, told in the humane and voice of one of the daughters, Jeannette Walls. Jeannette gew up with parents, whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Her father, Rex was a charismatic, brillant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination, teaching them physics, and geology, and above all, how to embrace life fearlessly. Her mother Mary, was a free spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity and didn't want the responsibility of raising a family. The Walls children  learned to take care of themselves. They fed, clothed, and protected one another.
On Christmas, they weren't given gifts, they were to expensive, they usually celebrated Christmas, about a week after December when good bows and wrapping paper were thrown way and Christmas trees were discarded on the roadside. Mary would give her children a bag of marbles or a doll or a slingshot that had been marked down in an after-Christmas sale. This particular Christmas, Rex  lost his job, and there was no money, so he took each of his kids into the desert night, wrapped in blankets, when it was Jeannette's turn, he sat next to her and talked about the stars. He told her to pick out her favorite star, he told her for her Christmas present she could keep any star that she liked, Jeannette found one, in the west above the mountains but low in the sky, that shone more brightly than all the rest. Rex told her that's Venus, it was only a planet, and a pretty dinky one compared to stars. Jeannette wanted it anyway. Her dad said, "What the hell, "It's Christmas. You can have a planet if you want it.
And he gave her Venus.
I loved reading this story of triumph againist all odds, but it was also a tender moving story of unconditional love in a family that despite it's profound flaws gave Jeannette Walls the determination to carve out a successful life on her own terms.

Happy Birthday Sister!!

Photo from the amazing Sweet Polita
Happy Birthday wishes to my  sister, best friend, blogger (the 50 best punch recipes) Jan. She's the sweetest sister in the world, she helped me with the birth of my children, and has been with both of my daughters when they delivered their babies. She has been with me through the roughest times of my life, and continues to stand by my side. She is my well of strength that never runs dry. We have shared many wonderful times together, and I  look forward to spending many more special events, and holidays with her. I hope she knows how much I LOVE her. So lucky to have you as my sister!
